Community guidelines

The community is for technical questions about barcodes, GS1 data, ZPL, label printing, printers and scanners.

Ask good questions

• Say what you tried, what happened and what you expected.
• Include the ZPL, the barcode data or the scanner output as a code block, and the printer or scanner model.
• One problem per question. Search first, your question may already have an answer.

Answer helpfully

• Answer the question that was asked. Explain why, not only what.
• Say where your information comes from (specification, manual, test). If you are guessing, say so.
• Answers are from members, not official documentation. Nobody here speaks for GS1, Zebra or any other manufacturer.

Not allowed

• Spam, advertising, affiliate links and SEO links.
• Personal data of others, passwords, API keys, licence keys and confidential customer data. Remove them from logs and ZPL before posting.
• Insults, harassment, discrimination.
• Content that infringes copyright, for example copied manuals.
• AI-generated answers posted as your own verified knowledge.

Moderation

Members can report posts. Moderators may hide posts that break these rules. Accounts that repeatedly break them may be removed. Contact: see the legal notice.
